MT. VERNON – Many community members were in attendance of the Celebrate Good Neighbors event in Mt. Vernon over the weekend. On Saturday evening, the Mt. Vernon Fire Department was presented with the Grant County Senior Advisory Council’s Service to Seniors Award for their decades of dedication and volunteerism in their annual Elderly Food Basket program.
On an earlier episode of Coffee Time, Senior Advisory Council Chairperson Rick LaMountain said the award consists of three very honorable pieces:
“The award consists of a plaque, a letter of appreciation signed by all three members of the [Grant] County Court, and a flag that is flown over the United States Capitol accompanied by a certificate, which is provided to us by the office of Congressman Cliff Bentz.”
All Grant County Volunteer firefighters ate for free at the event. Find photos below:
