Local information helped in arresting murder suspect

CANYON CITY – Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley informed our newsroom that local information regarding an on-the-run murder suspect helped to get him apprehended and behind bars. Find the press release from Sheriff McKinley below:

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was contacted on the evening of November 29th regarding a possible murder suspect traveling through the area.

Information was obtained and forwarded to Detectives in San Diego which assisted in the arrest of Edward T. Childs.

Several local individuals had contact with this suspect, and provided valuable information.

Once again, as your Sheriff, I want to thank this community that looks out for each other and reports suspicious activity that is valuable and time sensitive.
