HERMISTON – A Umatilla man will spend over seven years in prison after being sentenced Monday on several charges, including attempted murder, for a 2025 shooting outside of a Hermiston convenience store.

Andres Gordillo, 22, appeared via video from the Umatilla County Jail, where he was booked last week after fleeing a courtroom following his Oct. 8 conviction. He was captured last week in Pasco.

Gordillo was set to be arraigned on a failure to appear charge for his flight right after the sentencing, but the judge dismissed that charge at the prosecution’s request.

During the proceedings, Gordillo said he became scared after the guilty verdict and wanted to see his child one last time, before his attorney instructed him to stop speaking.

Gordillo was convicted of attempted murder, second-degree assault, and unlawful use of weapon. Prosecutors sought consecutive terms on the attempted murder and unlawful use of weapon charges, which would’ve extended his prison time by several years. The judge agreed with the defense, ordering the sentences be served concurrently for a total period of 90 months.

Gordillo will also serve three years of post-prison supervision once he’s released. He has 30 days to appeal the sentence.
