Zachariah Peer Sentenced to 30 Years Following Baker County Child Abuse Investigation

BAKER CITY — A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison following a child sex abuse investigation in Baker County.

Zachariah Peer received the 360-month prison sentence (30 years) following a lengthy settlement conference. Under the terms of the agreement, Peer will also serve 45 months of post-prison supervision upon his release and will receive credit for the one year he has already spent in custody.

The investigation was led by the Baker County Sheriff’s Office.

All three victims involved in the case participated in the settlement conference, and two offered victim impact statements directly to the judge during the sentencing hearing.

Baker County District Attorney Greg Baxter expressed his gratitude for the courage shown throughout the judicial process, thanking the victims for their participation in the proceedings and for being willing to come forward.
