WALLA WALLA – A suspect in this summer’s group attack in Walla Walla entered a plea of not guilty Monday afternoon in Walla Walla County Superior Court. Jeremiah Ademu Thompkins, 18, of Pendleton is charged with first-degree robbery, three counts of first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, and criminal mischief following the July 5 incident on Prospect Avenue.
During his arraignment, Thompkins signed a waiver of extradition stating he will reside in Weston, will not contact the victims or co-defendants, will keep in weekly contact with his attorney, and will appear in court when required. His trial is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022.
Thompkins is accused of joining a group of eight, including two minors, that were allegedly organized by his father, Charles Thompkins Jr., 63, of Pendleton to travel from Pendleton to Walla Walla to confront people believed to have stolen a vehicle. During the confrontation shots were fired and a fight broke out which resulted in three people being injured.
