BAKER CITY – A young female mountain lion has been killed in Baker City. According to Baker City Police Chief Ty Duby, at about 3 a.m. on February 6th, a Baker City Police Officer responded to the area of the cemetery in Baker City. Chief Duby said, “It has been a policy of BCPD for some time that if a cougar is in the city limits and it is safe to do so, an officer may shoot to maintain public safety for both humans and animals.”
Duby noted the officer utilized his duty AR-15 rifle to dispatch the cougar.
