Years in the making, North Powder Fire Department commemorates new 120ft flag pole December 13

NORTH POWDER — The North Powder Fire Department will hold a special flag-raising ceremony this Saturday, December 13th, marking the completion of a project thatโ€™s been years in the making. A free community breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 10 a.m., with the flag-raising set for 9am.

The idea for the display began in 2020, when the department envisioned installing a large flagpole at its new station โ€” one that travelers could see from I-84. Today, that vision stands 120 feet tall, and Saturday the new 30-by-60-foot American flag will be flying.

The project cost roughly $25,000 and was made possible through 40 to 50 community donations. When asked why the effort mattered so much, the department said, โ€œWe all love the country we live in and want to show people that.โ€

Residents and all veterans are invited to attend Fridayโ€™s ceremony and take part in the celebration.
