NORTH POWDER — The North Powder Fire Department will hold a special flag-raising ceremony this Saturday, December 13th, marking the completion of a project thatโs been years in the making. A free community breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 10 a.m., with the flag-raising set for 9am.
The idea for the display began in 2020, when the department envisioned installing a large flagpole at its new station โ one that travelers could see from I-84. Today, that vision stands 120 feet tall, and Saturday the new 30-by-60-foot American flag will be flying.
The project cost roughly $25,000 and was made possible through 40 to 50 community donations. When asked why the effort mattered so much, the department said, โWe all love the country we live in and want to show people that.โ
Residents and all veterans are invited to attend Fridayโs ceremony and take part in the celebration.
