In the Spring of 2026, Xander Smith was unanimously selected as this year’s youth hunt opportunity recipient by community partners, who work closely with the Baker City Police Department. Xander wanted to pursue a mule deer buck and over the coming months [and] spoke with Detective Mason Powell numerous times about the expectations, challenges, and planning when it came to hunting mule deer.
On October 3, 2026, Xander harvested a beautiful mule deer buck in the mountains of Eastern Oregon. Great job, Xander!
We would like to thank Jon Woolard, Scott Gressley, Baker County Custom Meats, and Carl Magill for his generous donation to Wade Willams Little League Foundation, and everybody involved for making this opportunity possible.
