PENDLETON – Taylorlee Michelle Wyatt, 21, didn’t stay out of Umatilla County Jail for long. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested her for stealing a vehicle the same day she was released on charges from Milton-Freewater. She wrecked the Kia Sedona that she allegedly stole.
The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office received a report Sunday morning that a person witnessed a single-vehicle crash on Adams Road outside the city of Adams. The caller said the vehicle went over an embankment and the reporting party didn’t know if anyone was injured. A female was seen walking away from the crash.
About 15 minutes later, the owner of a red Kia Sedona called to report that a woman had stolen it from his residence in Pendleton. He had apparently offered to give Wyatt a ride to Milton-Freewater, but made a stop at his home first. While he was inside, she stole the vehicle. UCSO determined the vehicle in the crash was the same one that had been stolen.
A UCSO sergeant located the female in Adams and conducted an investigation on site. She was arrested for unauthorized use of a vehicle, reckless driving, and criminal mischief. The charges against her from an arrest last Wednesday in Milton-Freewater are two counts of first-degree theft, criminal trespass, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Prior to this latest trip to jail, Wyatt was treated for minor injuries at St. Anthony Hospital. It is not clear whether she posted bail or was released on her own recognizance in the Milton-Freewater case. Her bail is currently set at $40,000.
