WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla Police Department wants to share its story about current changes and challenges in law enforcement with businesses, clubs, community groups and organizations. The program, called Bridging the Gap, focuses on providing current information and shows the public what officers face on the job.

“Many people don’t get factual information about the things that occur every day on the streets within their community that involve their officers,” Sgt. Gunner Fulmer said. “It is time police departments start communicating face-to-face with the public and share their message, and above all, educate the public on how and why law enforcement does the things they do.”

To schedule a class, contact either Fulmer at 509-524-4624 or gfulmer@wallawallawa.gov or Vicki Ruley, 509-524-4409 or vruley@wallawallawa.gov at the Walla Walla Police Department.

Classes will also be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Walla Walla Police Station on Tuesday, Oct. 12 and Tuesday, Nov. 9. Contact Fulmer or Ruley to register. If you are not registered for the class, you will not be allowed to attend. Class numbers will be smaller to allow for proper spacing.
