WALLA WALLA – Officers for the Walla Walla Police Department responded to a call reporting a suspicious vehicle and a distressed dog at the Veterans Memorial Golf Course. They found a female husky named Lupa who was trying to find a way out of the overheating van.
While they were removing Lupa, one of the officers noticed movement in the back of the van. A 300-pound pig, Elvis Pigsley, was laying in the back of the van. The officers formulated a plan and safely removed Elvis from the hot vehicle to a shady location where water was available.
A veterinarian arrived and told police both animals needed to be examined to ensure they were healthy and safe. Elvis and Lupa were taken to the Humane Society.
Police have not released information regarding the owner of the van or other circumstances surrounding the incident.
