WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla Police Department attempted three times Monday to catch Byron Joseph Graham, 22, of Walla Walla for failure to register as a felony sex offender. He currently holds an escaped community custody warrant for his arrest.
At 8:40 a.m., officers attempted to contact Graham on the 1000 block of West Elm. Once contacted, he took off running and was able to get away.
About two hours later, the same officer spotted Graham driving a vehicle on 13th Street and attempted to stop him, but he fled once again in the vehicle he was driving. Due to the new Washington State legislative changes, officers are only able to pursue fleeing subjects in vehicles under immediate threat conditions to the officer or public.
About 10 minutes later, a second officer spotted Graham driving and attempted to stop him, but once again, he fled, causing the officer to stop pursuing him.
If anyone has information regarding Graham’s whereabouts, please contact 911 or call the non-emergency line at 509-527-1960.
