WWPD investigating death at WA State Penitentiary

WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla Police Department is investigating the death of an incarcerated individual found deceased Sunday afternoon at the Washington State Penitentiary.

The incarcerated individual was found deceased in a shower in one of the close custody units at the facility. Staff attempted life saving measures upon discovery, before turning the case over to the WWPD.

The incarcerated individual’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The area of the incident has been secured, and the facility is on restricted movement.
