WWPD arrests suspect wanted for attempted murder

UPDATE 09/25/2024 at 5:47 p.m. – The Walla Walla Police Department reports that after several hours of interviewing, there has been a change of direction in this case. Key details are still being investigated. Mr. Lucero is still in custody and there is still probable cause for his arrest. This “change of direction” will be explained sometime tomorrow once detectives have completed the initial investigation.

WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Police Department reported Wednesday morning that Robert T. Lucero, 24, is now in custody. He was wanted on probable cause for first-degree attempted murder.
Lucero is from the area and has ties to both the Walla Walla and Milton-Freewater communities. WWPD said Lucero is known by the victim/survivor and that this was not a random act.
WWPD said more details are forthcoming about this case.
