WALLA WALLA – (News release from Walla Walla Police Department) Robert Lucero, 24 of Walla Walla, has been arrested for seriously assaulting his 27 year old ex-girlfriend, along with several other charges.
Seven separate reports of domestic violence or domestic disturbances had been reported to law
enforcement involving Lucero and his ex girlfriend between May and September 11, 2024. In these seven incidents, either no probable cause was developed, or parties could not be located by officers. In early September a protection order was put in place prohibiting Lucero from contacting his ex. On September 19th, Lucero violated the order and was subsequently arrested. Lucero was released on September 20th with a court imposed no contact order. On September 21st, Lucero violated the order again by showing up to his ex girlfriend’s house. Lucero was arrested a second time for violating the order. Lucero was released on the second arrest on September 23rd at approximately 3:00pm. Lucero contacted his ex about three hours after being released. He proceeded to assault and strangle her throughout the night. On the morning of September 24th, Lucero left his ex’s house which allowed her to call 911.
Based on the preliminary interviews and crime scene investigation, WWPD Detectives developed probable cause for attempted Murder 1st Domestic Violence (DV). Detectives worked rigorously on their investigation and attempting to locate Lucero. On September 25th, Lucero was located in the 800 block of N Main St. A tip from a citizen who had seen the wanted bulletin led police to Lucero. Lucero was hiding in the residence. K9 Raven was used to search the house. Lucero was taken into custody without using force.
Detectives spent the day interviewing Lucero and conducting follow-up interviews with other involved parties. Based on new and clarified information from all interviews, the charge of attempted murder was no longer applicable. After discussions between Detectives and the Prosecutor’s Office, Lucero was formally charged with Burglary in the First Degree DV, two counts of Assault in the Second Degree DV, Unlawful Imprisonment DV, Felony Violation of Court Order with assault and a misdemeanor Violation of a No Contact Order DV.
Lucero recently served a 13 month prison sentence for domestic assault involving the same person. He was released from prison late last year. The two have a child in common.
This case is still being actively investigated.
