WWFD responds to fire at Washington State Penitentiary

WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Fire Department responded to the Washington State Penitentiary at 10:26 p.m. Tuesday. Chief Eric Wood said the fire originated in one of the cells, but did extend outside of the cell into the hallway.
Wood explained that the cell is located on the second tier of the building and that the weather was not a factor in WWFD’s response.
Firefighters were unable to determine the cause of the fire, which is still under investigation.
No injuries have been reported.
