WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Fire Department reports it was a cargo trailer that caught fire in the parking lot of Taqueria Yungapeti, 320 S. Ninth Ave., at 6:36 p.m. Friday.

When firefighters arrived, the 20-foot-long trailer, which was attached to a tow vehicle, was fully involved. The fire did not extend into the business.

Public works staff had to protect storm drains due to runoff of chemicals and fuel stored in the cargo trailer. The Washington State Department of Ecology was notified; however, no further action was taken.

No injuries were reported, and the loss of the trailer is estimated at $40,000. It was determined that the fire was caused by a mechanical equipment failure.
