WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit is now operating a new patrol and response vessel. Last year, the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office applied for and was awarded a federal grant to make the purchase.

In June, the agency took delivery of the new twin outboard, manufactured by Life Proof Boats, based in Bremerton, Washington. It is now in service and was built to work and respond to the county’s specific waterways.

The older vessel, originally built for fishing, served Walla Walla County for over 16 years. In that time, it underwent many upgrades, but the agency said it was time that vessel be retired.
