PENDLETON – Umatilla County Sheriff Terry Rowan says his detectives and deputies are looking into a shooting that could have occurred in the Milton-Freewater area. Rowan said his department is working with both the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office and the Walla Walla Police Department.

“A shooting victim showed up at one of the area hospitals up there, and there seems to be evidence to point to the fact that the incident may have taken place in Umatilla County in the Milton-Freewater area,” Rowan said.

Rowan said his office was contacted last week and the shooting had happened two weekends before. He also said that if investigators are to learn more about what happened, it probably won’t be coming from the person who was shot.

“In this particular case, we’ve got a very uncooperative victim,” Rowan said. “What we hope is that eventually he’ll come around and we’ll be able to further the investigation.”
