WALLA WALLA – The city of Walla Walla has received two major financial contributions, totaling $150,000.

The first, a $100,000 Washington State Military Department Extreme Weather Response Grant, was recently accepted by the Walla Walla City Council. This grant will help support upgrades at the Sleep Center to create additional shelter huts, add pet-friendly improvements, equipment to deal with extremely hot and cold weather, and more.

Andy Coleman, Parks and Recreation Director, received last month a check for $50,000 from two frequent visitors from Olympia. They have been stopping by the Pioneer Park Aviary for 40 years and wanted to contribute to the facility.
