WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Board of Commissioners has chosen Greg Lybeck to fill the position of fairgrounds manager. A certified fair executive, Lybeck will begin his new position on Jan. 19.
Lybeck has more than 27 years of experience in the fair and events industry. He was assistant fair manager and general manager of the Central Washington Fair as well as managing the Yakima SunDome. After that Lybeck served as executive director of SOZO Sports of Central Washington in Yakima.
“We are pleased to have such a highly regarded and qualified candidate in Greg Lybeck,” Commissioner Greg Tompkins wrote in a prepared release. “Greg’s vast experience in the fair industry, coupled with his expertise in operating a facility as the SunDome will allow for review and growth of an already successful Walla Walla Fair and Frontier Days and the day-to-day operation of the county’s event center.”
Tompkins said he is proud to welcome both Lybeck and his wife Dana Lybeck to Walla Walla. The new manager said they’re happy to be onboard.
“I am very excited about this opportunity to get back to the fair industry and be part of the oldest fair in Washington state that has such rich tradition and community support,” Lybeck said. “Walla Walla is a place my wife and I have enjoyed visiting. We look forward to being a part of your great community.”
