DIXIE – Walla Walla County Fire District No. 8 will ask voters to consider raising the fire levy rate on the Nov. 5 ballot.
The district is asking voters to consider raising the fire levy rate to $1.10 per $1,000 of assessed property value. The levy is currently 66-cents per $1,000 assessed evaluation. Chief Bob Clendaniel says that’s the lowest tax amount of any fire district in Walla Walla County.
Clendaniel said the rising costs of fuel, insurance, parts, maintenance and vehicle replacement leave no other options available.
Public meetings will be held at the fire hall off U.S. 12 in Dixie at 6:30 p.m. The first is tomorrow night (Tuesday) and the second is Oct. 8.
