PULLMAN – Washington State University has confirmed that starting quarterback Jayden de Laura has been suspended indefinitely from the football team after being arrested for driving under the influence over the weekend.

The Pullman Police Department reported that de Laura ran a stop sign, drove the wrong way on a one-way street, and failed a field sobriety test. He was arrested, cited, and released for misdemeanor DUI.

The 19-year-old from Honolulu refused to take a breathalyzer test. A true freshman, the former state champion quarterback from Hawaii threw for 886 yards with five touchdowns and four interceptions in four games. He was the first true freshman to ever start for WSU in the season officer, when he led the Cougars to a win over Oregon State. He was named Pac-12 freshman of the week for that.
