PLYMOUTH – Two people sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a four-vehicle crash Thursday on State Route 14 at milepost 179. It happened at 7:18 a.m. near Plymouth.
The Washington State Patrol said a tractor-trailer hauling hay, driven by Wesley J. Purcell of Pilot Rock, was traveling westbound and rear-ended a Chevy van, driven by Kody G. Bruton, 22, of Kennewick who stopped in the roadway to turn onto Plymouth Industrial Road.
Purcell’s tractor-trailer pushed Bruton’s van into the eastbound lane where it struck a Ford pickup driven by David R. Obrien of Lewiston. Both Bruton and Obrien were injured and transported to Trios Health Southridge Hospital in Kennewick.
After striking Bruton’s van, Purcell’s tractor-trailer continued across the eastbound lane and struck a four-door Toyota. Neither Purcell nor that Toyota’s driver were injured.
Troopers said the cause of the collision is inattention and following too closely. Purcell faces charges of second-degree negligent driving.
