SENECA – Grant County Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Bush was on Coffee Time yesterday. While flooding is a major problem in the Burns area, Bush said there have been some complications in the Seneca area as well, in southern Grant County:
“Southern Grant County is affected. [It is in] the same watershed as what’s affecting Burns. There was some danger to the sewer lift station in Seneca, but folks up there did a tremendous job—James, Debra, and everybody else up there. We provided a bunch of sandbags for them and they made a lot of their own, and were able to keep the water from causing any serious problems up there.”
Floodwaters in Harney County, however, have not been kept away from sewage and other toxic substances. Waters were tested on Sunday and returned Monday with positive results for E Coli and Coliform. It is important to take extra precautions to stay out of flood water.
