SENECA – Grant County Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Bush was on Coffee Time yesterday. While flooding is a major problem in the Burns area, Bush said there have been some complications in the Seneca area as well, in southern Grant County:

โ€œSouthern Grant County is affected. [It is in] the same watershed as whatโ€™s affecting Burns. There was some danger to the sewer lift station in Seneca, but folks up there did a tremendous jobโ€”James, Debra, and everybody else up there. We provided a bunch of sandbags for them and they made a lot of their own, and were able to keep the water from causing any serious problems up there.โ€

Floodwaters in Harney County, however, have not been kept away from sewage and other toxic substances. Waters were tested on Sunday and returned Monday with positive results for E Coli and Coliform. It is important to take extra precautions to stay out of flood water.
