Work to begin on Spring Recreation Campground boat ramp

HUNTINGTON – This week work is expected to begin on replacing the boat ramp and floating dock at Spring Recreation Campground near Huntington, Ore.

According to a representative with the Vale District BLM, “the launch area will be closed Feb. 1 to March 31.”

Employees will remove concrete slabs and construct a new side ramp, as well as lay the foundation for a new floating dock to be installed later in the spring.

After it broke free from its tether in 2019, a post-recovery inspection revealed the original dock was unsafe for re-use. An Oregon State Marine Board grant funded the design of the new dock and purchase of materials. Installation should take place sometime in May.
