PENDLETON – Pendleton Community Development Director Tim Simons says work continues on the main roads into the property that will eventually have more than 400 building lots in the southeast section of Pendleton on what is known as the Rees-Goad property.

“We’re building the main roads, the arterials and collectors, that go into this vacant ground,” Simons said. “Then the developer pays us back as the build houses. They pay us back an incremental cost to pay it off.”

While the city is initially footing the bill for Southeast Rees-Goad Way and water and sewer infrastructure, the contractors for two subdivisions will build the other roads and infrastructure needed for the houses. Simons said that Summit Ridge Estates plans to start phase one of about 200 lots, which will total an estimated 40 lots this summer. He said the contractor expects to begin filing building plans next month.

A second subdivision with an estimated 280 lots is in the process of filing its plans with the city as well.
