Work begins on affordable housing project

PENDLETON – A virtual groundbreaking is being held tomorrow (Wednesday) for Wildflower, the affordable housing project being built on Tutuilla Road. The 80 units and a community building are being constructed by Chrisman Development of Enterprise.

There will be 57 two-bedroom and 23 three-bedroom apartments, and it’s anticipated the rents will range from $750 to $940. Wildflower qualifies for the designation of affordable at 60 percent of the area median income. Chrisman Development Director of Development Shelly Cullin stated that would mean a family of four would have to have incomes at or lower than $39,180.

Wildflower is expected to be finished in September 2022. The two-bedroom apartments will be 925 square feet while the three-bedroom units will be 1,113.The leasing agent for the property is Viridian Management, Inc., which is based in Enterprise. Leasing is expected to begin in March 2022.
