Woman in standoff takes her own life

KENNEWICK – A woman involved in a standoff Wednesday night with Kennewick police died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. It all started just before 8 p.m. when officers responded to the 8600 block of West First Avenue for a domestic incident.

While at the location, the suspect unlawfully entered her ex-boyfriend’s residence and caused a disturbance. The male fled and called 911. The suspect armed herself with a firearm and while officers attempted to negotiate with her, she fired at least one round.

The SWAT team was activated and made multiple attempts to negotiate a peaceful resolution. The SWAT team eventually made entry into the residence where they located the deceased female.

The deceased was identified by Kennewick police as Lounny Boualapha, 43.
