WALLA WALLA — A female threatening people with a machete was arrested Saturday morning at Wildwood Park, 21 South Division Street in Walla Walla. When the first arriving officer found the female at 10:41 a.m., she was yelling at people, stating she was going to kill them, according to Walla Walla Police Department Sergeant Gunner Fulmer.
The officer immediately started clearing people out of the park as he waited for additional units to arrive.
Once the park was clear, officers started to try and de-escalate the situation with the female. The female was identified as Shelby D Brown, 35.
An officer attempted to use a pepper ball gun to gain compliance with Brown but ran into problems with that piece of equipment. Officers ended up having to get closer to Brown, and subdue her with a Taser deployment, which was successful.
Brown was transported to Providence St. Mary Medical Center to be checked and then booked into the Walla Walla County Jail on charges for felony threats, unlawful carrying of a weapon and resisting arrest.
