Woman accused of drunkenly hitting Baker FFA bus faces plea hearing

DESCHUTES COUNTY –  A plea hearing has been scheduled for the woman accused of crashing into a bus full of Baker FFA students and teachers.

34-year old Katrina Nicole Dacus of Culver is set to enter a plea June 3. She is charged with 26 Class A misdemeanors, including eight counts of fourth-degree assault, 15 counts of recklessly endangering another person and single counts of DUII, reckless driving and second-degree criminal mischief.

She’s accused of running a Redmond stop sign on, Friday, March 22 and crashing into the side of a small school bus carrying 14 Baker County Future Farmers of America students, who were in town for the state FFA convention.

The charging document alleges Dacus was driving with a measured blood alcohol level of at least .15 percent, nearly twice the legal limit of .08.

At her arraignment in April, A Deschutes County Circuit Judge set Dacus’ bail at $10,000, for which she was to post $1,000 for release, and ordered that she be placed on an alcohol electronic monitoring device and not consume alcohol, frequent bars or have any contact with several individuals, including the school bus driver.
