Winter storm to bring snow and high winds to Grant County

By on Monday, January 8th, 2024 in Eastern/Southeast Oregon News More Top Stories

GRANT COUNTY – The National Weather Service is reporting that today, high pressure will give way to a warm front swinging into the Pacific Northwest. The agency says as the system behind the warm front moves in, the pressure gradient tightens, producing breezy to windy conditions in combination with snow.

This will lead to winter weather advisory conditions for several areas, including the Ochoco-John Day Highlands. The advisory is in effect from 4 p.m. this evening until 7 p.m. tomorrow, (Tuesday). Up to 7 inches of snow is expected, with winds gusting as high as 55 miles per hour.

Prairie City Public Works Director Chris Camarena reminds all Grant County residents to allow your faucet to drip during this especially cold weather, to prevent frozen and broken pipes. Stay posted for weather updates and follow the My Grant/Harney County Facebook page.
