PENDLETON – Umatilla County’s COVID-19 cases are falling, dropping from 191 two weeks ago to 108 last week.
“Our numbers are continuing to be down,” Umatilla County Board of Commissioners Chairman George Murdock said. “People say that’s just because they can’t get out and gather.”
Murdock said the decreasing case count is not due to the winter storms.
“It doesn’t work quite like that,” he said. “The impact of not gathering will be felt a week from now.”
Umatilla County remains at extreme risk. Murdock hopes cases decline enough to bring us out soon. The goal is 162 or fewer cases per 100,000 population over a two-week period, and a positivity rate of less than 10 percent.
