Wind Advisory issued for the John Day Basin

JOHN DAY – The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the John Day Basin, in effect from 10 PM this evening (Tuesday) until 4 PM on Wednesday, December 17th.

The agency is calling for southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph in the John Day Basin. Baker, Harney, and Malheur counties are under advisory for high winds as well. The weather service cautions that gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Also, winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution on the highways and follow Elkhorn Media Group outlets for updates.
