LA GRANDE – Kari Williams is a new addition to the La Grande School District as Occupational Therapist, Kari is the first OT hired directly by the district and is excited to be working with students at all district schools. She was born in La Grande, attended Central Elementary (the old one!) and graduated from North Powder High School. She attended EOU and OSU and earned her Master of Occupational Therapy degree from Eastern Washington University. She spent the past five years working with pediatric and adult patients in a clinical setting.
Kari’s grandmother and mother are both teachers, so she is excited to follow in their footsteps in education. She will work with students on a variety of academic-related skills like fine motor, visual perception, life skills, executive functioning, all to help them succeed at school. “I look forward to building relationships with students, teachers and parents, and I believe the primary occupations of children are school and play in order to learn, grow and develop.”
Kari and her husband live on his family’s farm between Haines and North Powder. In her free time, Kari enjoys spending time with her family, playing with her dogs and enjoying the mountains.
