MILTON-FREEWATER – The advanced art class and the science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) students at Central Middle School in Milton-Freewater will be heading out for a two-day field trip thanks to a grant from the Wildhorse Foundation.
The grant will give 32 eighth grade students from those classes a trip that Lynne Burnham, their art teacher, says will help students reach their full potential as they prepare for “high school and beyond.”
The first stop on the field trip will be at the SAGE Center at the Port of Morrow in Boardman. Then it will be on to Portland. Students will visit the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) and the Portland Art Museum. Each destination offers hands-on learning experiences.
“This trip is an exceptional opportunity for students in our advanced art and STEAM classes,” Burnham said. “Learning beyond the four walls of the classroom opens our students’ eyes to so many possibilities.”
