Wildfires cause travel complications in Eastern Oregon. Be prepared.

EASTERN OREGON – As of Monday at noon (7/27), several highways in Eastern Oregon are closed.
U.S. Highway 26 between Mitchell and Prineville remains closed to through traffic. Local traffic is allowed. The Grant County People Mover will not be running to Bend during the closure.
U.S. Highway 26 through Unity, and up to Highway 395B through Mt. Vernon are seeing an abundance of traffic, along with delays.

Approximately 30 miles of fire activity is burning at or near I-84 between Baker City and Ontario. As fire behavior changes, sections of the interstate may open or close with little notice. Travelers should check TripCheck.com before leaving and throughout their trip, as conditions can change rapidly.
There are currently no east-west alternate routes available for interstate traffic. Sections of U.S. 20 and U.S. 26 east of the Cascades also remain closed due to wildfire. Do not rely on GPS to find alternate routes. Smaller highways cannot accommodate interstate traffic volumes and are easily congested or blocked.
Conditions and highway closures can change with little notice as wildfire activity evolves.
