Whitman Ranger District Welcomes New District Ranger

BAKER CITY – (Release from the U.S. Forest Service) The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest is excited to announce the appointment of Jeremy Aujero as the new Whitman District Ranger. Aujero joins the forest with over 25 years of federal experience, a combination of both military and Forest Service.

He comes to the Forest and Whitman Ranger District from the Siuslaw National Forest, where he served as the Deputy District Ranger for the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.

Aujero is excited to serve in this role, and passionate about engagement with the local community, partners, stakeholders, and interest groups. “It’s an honor and a privilege to have this opportunity to continue to serve public lands and the American people.”

He reflects that his time on the Siuslaw National Forest that helped him prepare to be successful in his new role as Whitman District Ranger. “The management work I oversaw on the Siuslaw allowed me to exercise the skill sets that I honed over the years as a federal employee, learn more about management of natural resources and public land, all while still contributing to the greater good,” said Aujero. The Forest Service’s motto.

One of Aujero’s primary goals for his tenure at the Whitman District is to support a positive work environment and emphasize engagement and collaboration with the local community. On work environment Aujero stated, “A healthy workplace is a thriving environment where all individuals feel like part of a team, is inclusive, and can do their job to the best of their ability,”. He continued, “The intention is to be here for the long haul and leave a good, lasting impression and allow the city, the community, and the forest to also shape me and my family.”

Shaun McKinney, Wallowa-Whitman Forest Supervisor, also spoke on Aujero’s experience in leadership.

 “Jeremy brings a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective to the Whitman District,” said McKinney. “We are confident in his ability to lead our efforts in conservation and community engagement.”

The Whitman Ranger District encompasses a diverse range of ecosystems and recreational opportunities. Under Aujero’s leadership, the District aims to enhance its programs and initiatives, ensuring that the forest remains a vibrant resource for all.
