HELIX – The Wheatstock Music Festival has announced its star-studded lineup for the two-day concert Aug. 16-17. Friday’s headliner will be Treaty Oak Revival. Saturday’s main act is Shane Smith & the Saints. Online ticket sales begin on Feb. 9 at a reduced price. The price will go up on March 9.
Them Dirty Roses will return to open for Treaty Oak Revival Friday. The opening acts for the Saturday concert are Tylor and the Train Robbers, Dolly Shine, and a return appearance by Lowdown Drifters.
The festival features large-scale and local Americana, folk, and country artists. In addition to live music there are food vendors, camping, a beer garden, merchandise sales, a VIP area, and optional cabana-shade seating. It takes place in the grass arena of the Helix Rodeo Grounds. Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.
Treaty Oak Revival is an up-and-coming band comprised of Sam Canty, Lance Vanley, Jeremiah Vanley, Andrew Carey, and Cody Holloway. Their unique sound is rooted in Texas/red dirt country, but also draws from Southern rock and punk influences. The band’s latest release, “Have a Nice Day,” is streaming on all platforms.
Shane Smith & the Saints’ music has American roots influenced by country, folk and roadhouse rock and roll. The group has spent the last decade on tour and its sound is definitely shaped by the road. Now they are headlining concerts in major venues like the Ryman Auditorium, they also performed “Fire in the Ocean” onscreen on the hit show “Yellowstone.”
“If you spend 10 years playing dive bars and small clubs almost every single night, and you go to the merch booth after every show and hang out with the fans until the staff literally kicks you out, you get to turn those fans into friends,” Smith, a Texas native, said. “That’s how we built this thing. We’ve done as many as 240 shows in a single year. We’ve worked so hard to get there and that hard work has created a beautiful, meaningful audience.”
Wheatstock, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that was started in 2007. All proceeds from the event go to Helix and Athena Weston High School Senior Scholarships, the Helix School music program, and the Cross the Divide Veterans Program. To date, Wheatstock has raised nearly $70,000 for those charities.
More information is available at https://www.wheatstock.org/, and tickets can be purchased there as well beginning Feb. 9.
