PENDLETON – It looks like the large apartment complex planned for Westgate below Blue Mountain Community College is almost ready to begin construction. Pendleton Public Works Director Bob Patterson says he learned from Community Development Director Tim Simons that the permitting process for phase one is almost complete, and it’s hoped that groundbreaking will be next month.

“The first phase consists of seven apartment buildings of eight to 12 units each,” Patterson said. “Then, there are two other buildings which would be the manager’s office and administrative building, and then a laundry and community building.”

Patterson said the developer is building a community of more than 200 apartments over two or three phases and will include a recreational court and ADA accessible ground floor units.

“It’s developing more of a community-type apartment complex than what we’ve typically seen here in town,” he said.
