WALLA WALLA – After an eight-year tenure on the Walla Walla Public Schools Board of Directors, Sam Wells’ last board meeting was on Tuesday. Board President Derek Sarley presented Wells with a Golden Apple for his service to the board.

Wells was elected to the board in November 2013 and served as board president twice. He was instrumental in the successful 2018 bond election. Wells did not run for a third term. Kathy Mulkerin was elected to assume Well’s position.

According to the district, Wells was a strong supporter for the development of the Walla Walla Center for Children and Families. He also helped facilitate the hiring of Superintendent Wade Smith and was part of two successful replacement educational levies and four state board of distinction awards.
