NORTH POWDER – (Information from the City of North Powder Newsletter) The city of North Powder will begin water line flushing at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 11. Residents will still have water while lines are being flushed but may experience discoloration of their water. In such cases, residents are asked to run an outdoor faucet before attempting to flush their lines inside. When flushing inside, run cold water from the faucet closest to where water enters the house. This will help keep the water lines, in particular the water heater, clear. Flushing will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day and is expected to take 3 to 5 days to complete.
In addition, the city will lift its burn ban on Sunday, October 1, to coincide with the end of fire season in the region. Burning will be allowed from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and all fires must be completely extinguished, I.E., no smoldering, by 6 p.m. each evening. Residents are still asked to avoid burning on windy days and to always have a source of running water nearby when burning. Burn permits can be picked up for free at city hall.
