(Statement from Halfway Mayor Nora Aspy)

There has already been an alarming amount of speeding occurring on City streets. The City of Halfway is continuing to look at effective solutions to reduce the amount of speeding. We have had several discussions about speed enforcement with State, County and Public entities and will continue to engage in these discussions. We have had short-term successes, but long-term solutions are needed. One solution that has been discussed is installing traffic lights, another is speed bumps. Neither of these are preferred, however drivers continue to break speed laws in town and endanger lives. SLOW DOWN. We are rural and primarily residential. We welcome visitors and encourage your stay in Halfway, however keep in mind we have a reduced speed limit from the 35mph many are used to in larger areas. The speed limit through town is 25mph, reducing to 20mph through the Commercial Zone and School Zones. Please drive slowly and safely through Halfway.
