Washington man now facing manslaughter charges in Pendleton fatal crash

PENDLETON – Charges have been amended in the case of a Battle Ground, Washington man who was the driver in a crash that killed two people and sent an infant to the hospital.

Cullen Derr, 38, has been charged with two counts of second-degree manslaughter. He had already been charged with third-degree assault, reckless driving, and driving under the influence of intoxicants. Three charges of recklessly endangering another person have been removed from charging documents.

A 24-year-old woman and 15-year-old male were killed in the July 16 single-vehicle crash at Exit 207 on Interstate 84 in Pendleton. A 9-month-old infant sustained serious injuries after being ejected from the vehicle, there has been no update on the child’s condition.

Derr remains in the Umatilla County Jail. His next court appearance is August 14.
