LA GRANDE – The Oregon State Police has released a preliminary follow up report on the December 4th semi-truck crash and multi-hour highway shutdown near La Grande. The crash initially occurred at around 12:53 p.m. near milepost 259, when an eastbound commercial motor vehicle lost control and rolled over, crashing into the westbound lanes and blocking traffic. The full description, as provided by OSP in a recent press log, is as follows:
“On the above listed date and time, I was dispatched to a Motor Vehicle Crash at milepost 259 on I 84 westbound. A commercial motor vehicle was traveling eastbound on the highway when it failed to negotiate a curve and crashed through the median guardrail, turning on its side, and sliding into the westbound lanes of travel. Both lanes of westbound travel were blocked.
There were no injuries reported. The driver was cited in lieu of custody for Reckless Driving, and additionally cited for Driving Too Fast For Conditions and Failing to Driving Within Lane. Fenn’s Towing responded and towed the semitruck from the scene.”
The driver was identified as 23-year-old Ravinder Sing of Cle Elum Washington.
