Washington man arrested on multiple charges after fleeing state police near Baker City

BAKER COUNTY – The Oregon State Police recently arrested Benjamin Exavior Bischoff (21) of Chehalis Washington on multiple charges after he attempted to flee during a traffic stop. The stop attempt took place at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, along I-84 Westbound at Milepost 305, just outside Baker City. A full explanation of the stop and Bischoff’s subsequent arrest (as listed in a recent OSP press log) is as follows:

“OSP attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix near 184, Mile post 305 West Bound, when the vehicle fled and continued West Bound at a high rate of speed, Which OSP did not pursue. The vehicle was found around 15 minutes later at mile post 298 West exit involved in a single vehicle crash into the guard rail, two suspects were located in a nearby field and the driver was taken into custody.”

The second suspect mentioned in the summary was a 17-year-old juvenile female. Bischoff was charged with the following:

  • Attempt to Elude Fleeing (Vehicle)
  • Custodial Interference II
  • Reckless Endangering Person
  • Reckless Driving
  • Fail to Perform Duties of Driver in Accident with Prop Damage
  • Tempering with Physical Evidence

No charges were listed for the Juvenile
