Wallowa-Whitman NF to Host National Public Lands Day Event Oct. 4 in Baker City

BAKER CITY- (Release from Wallowa-Whitman National Forest)  Wallowa-Whitman National Forest is partnering up with Oregon State University to celebrate National Public Lands Day Oct. 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Baker County Fairgrounds. This year’s theme is “Together for Tomorrow”. The event will be focused on teaching youth from ages 5-13, about the 7 principles of Leave No Trace and responsible recreation.

Parents and children of all ages are welcome, snacks will be provided, and guests can get a free day-use recreation pass for participation.

National Public Lands Day is an annual event in the U.S. where volunteers come together to help restore and enhance public lands, promoting environmental stewardship and outdoor recreation. Leave No Trace is an outdoor ethic promoting responsible recreation by minimizing human impact on nature through practices that preserve the environment.
