Wallowa-Whitman National Forest to Reduce Public Use Restrictions and Industrial Fire Precaution Level

BAKER CITY – (Release from Wallowa-Whitman National Forest) Wallowa-Whitman Forest officials will reduce Public Use restrictions to Phase A and Industrial Fire Precaution to Level I at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on Wednesday Aug 9, 2023. This is a downgrade from the PUR phase B announced July 21 and return to the original PUR phase A announced July 14.

This change is due to the recent increase in moisture to the area.

The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest encourages everyone to Recreate Responsibly on Forest

Please note that this restriction change only applies to Wallowa-Whitman and may not reflect other Forests in the region. Please always check local restrictions and be safe.
