BAKER CITY – (Release from the U.S. Forest Service) Several campsites across the Wallowa-Whitman have implemented the 2021 decision to change or start camping fees that will be directly used to build and improve amenities for our guests.
Improvements that have been installed in these campgrounds include new tables, new fire rings and new bulletin boards.
The proposal for the upgrade was submitted to the Resource Advisory Committee, that included a public outreach, several years ago and was approved in July 2021. It was next approved by the regional office, and lastly it was approved by the Washington D.C. office.
Here are the locations that have a new self-service pay stations, to collect the improvement fees, that previously did not have a camping fee.
