Wallowa School Board names finalists for district’s next superintendent/principal

WALLOWA – (Release from the Wallowa School District) After completing a multi-state search, the Wallowa School Board of Directors is pleased to announce that three finalists have been selected for further consideration as the next superintendent/principal for the Wallowa School District. The selected finalists are:

Thomas Brandt

Mr. Brandt has been an Executive Principal with the Dallas School District in Texas since June 2023. Before that, he was a school principal in the Dallas school district going back to 2014. Mr. Brandt is a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Texas and earned his master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of North Texas and his bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education at Moorhead State University.

Stacy Knudson

Ms. Knudson is the Superintendent/Director of the Eddyville Charter School in the Lincoln County School District and has been in the position since 2018. Before that, she was a teacher and coach at the Eddyville Charter School. Ms. Knudson has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in education, both from Oregon State University. She earned her administrative credentials at the University of Oregon.

Melissa Skinner

Dr. Skinner is the Executive Director of Leadership at the Ector County School District in Texas. Prior, she was the Deputy Superintendent at the Cleveland School District in Texas. She holds a doctorate in Education from Northcentral University in California, a master’s degree in administration/supervision from Southeastern Louisiana University, and a bachelor’s degree in elementary and middle education from Northwestern State University in Louisiana.

Each finalist will be invited for a “day in the district” this Friday, February 2nd. At this time, staff and community members can meet the candidates. The staff and community “meet and greets” will be held in the Beth Johnson Room from 12:30PM as follows:

Candidate #1: 12:30-1:05 PM

Candidate #2: 1:05-1:40 PM

Candidate #3: 1:40-2:15 PM

Comment cards will be provided for participants to share thoughts with the school board after the event.
